Mobile App Visual Revamp- Slice
Behind the story: Slice is an NBFC unicorn based in Bangalore, India which is immensely popular among youngsters especially students. Most of the university going students barely have any running income, hence banks in India do not provide credit cards or loan students directly. This is where slice comes into picture. Slice avails credit cards to college going students and earns revenue out of EMI repayments. Soon the Reserve Bank of India took cognizance of the same and issued a notice to all such NBFCs to stop issuing credit cards to their customers since they do not possess Banking license. However they are allowed to loan their customers under their NBFC license but they should not use the term Credit Card for the same.
Project Brief: Hence, Slice had to make changes in their existing financial instruments and services as per the aforementioned notice from the RBI. This calls for revamping the entire app with new visual language. The target audience are youngsters with age groups between 18-25 years. Hence Slice needs graphics, visuals in its app which attracts the said younger audience. The below illustrations and animations are an integral part of app onboardings and flows for their different offerings.
Role and Responsibility: Storyboarding (for a few animations) and Animation for all the animations below.
Creative Process: At Slice, I was fortunate enough to be a part of the design team during the discovery of a wonderful process for telling design stories and addressing creative problems. Once the visual design and UX copy are ready this process comes into action. We study the copy and try to identify the emotion points out of it. Based on those emotions, we identify situations which could best depict the copy. Based on voting we decide the best idea and start storyboards around it. Once it is approved, we kick start Illustrations followed by the animation.
